Need an App Developer?
So you want to get a Mobile App developed.
This guide is aimed at beginners to mobile app design it will just get you started on what to expect.
If you have an idea and you wish to take it further then talk to us about your Mobile App aspirations. If its a new idea you want to protect we suggest with any developer you discuss with first getting a NDA Agreement, this will protect your idea.
Mobile app design encompasses both the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). Designers are responsible for the overall style of the app, including things like the colour scheme, font selection, and the types of buttons and widgets the user will use.
Mobile apps come in many languages and have different sorts of databases. So if we are picking up from another developer this will need to be discussed at the outset.
Before you start designing, because you first need to understand the dos and don’ts of your platform. Generally speaking, mobile app design shares some similarities between the different operating systems, such as:
- Goal-driven design
- Keep it simple (less is more)
- Maintain the flow
- Readability is key
- Respect the platform
These are the steps we take when completing a project…
- Discuss your project, your users and your product (hybrid or native),
- Choose whether you would like a Hybrid App or Native (IOS and Android Sperately)
- Storyboard your app and its design features including functions
- Changes (there are always changes) this is where we see where the design gets signed off.
- Then we build a pototype, using the graphics so we can check functions and flow of the app.
- Then we build your app, programming in PHP Html and Mysql. Creating a User friendly Admin, for Syncing API's but also great for fluid content
- Finally its testing, testing, testing, going back to Apple and Google Play making sure that the App passes their criteria.
- Client gets code via bit bucket share once payment is received.
- Then Release!!! Party!!!!
Of course there is alot more to it than that….
Most mobile apps take at least 6 weeks to produce and that isnt with the testing. This takes into account all the above steps.
As mentioned above testing is a big aspect, and keeping Apple and Google happy.
The good news is that you don’t need to guess what’s acceptable. Both Apple and Android have a set of design guidelines that you can review before you get started (and while you’re actively designing):
How much will it cost?
This is the most asked question and it is a case of “how long is a piece of string” each project is different. Some are large apps with video content, subscriptions, pay as you go. Some are directories. As a guide you are looking at at least $10,000 for a basic app.
If you would like to discuss your project then please contact us.
