Colour me pretty!

What’s in a colour? Just like you learnt at school all colours are made up of others.

Most artwork I produce is in CMYK or Cyan Magenta Yellow and kaka (joke it’s Black) and when working on websites RGB Red Green Blue. These colours have usually been selected using a Pantone book.

So 369c for example is a lovely green and made up of a percentage of the CMYK or RGB. The C stands for coated or you may see U at the end of a colour. These tell you what the colour looks like on coated or uncoated paper.

This is very important as the paper type shows colours differently, make sure you check with your printer. Personally I’m all about coated as it’s more vibrant.

As you can see there is so much more to choosing colours than you first think.
